CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Virginia Tech’s Cori McMillan was named the ACC Player of the Week and Florida State’s Jazzy Francik was tabbed the ACC Pitcher of the Week for games played April 28 through May 4 in the final week of the regular season.
The ACC softball weekly awards are voted on by a panel of representatives from both the schools and the conference office.
McMillan went 6-for-9 (.667) in the final series of the regular season with four home runs and five RBIs. In the season finale against No. 9 Florida State, McMillan hit back-to-back home runs for the second time in the series to help the Hokies upset the Seminoles, 8-6. The senior out of Greensboro, North Carolina, leads the nation in home runs (29) and home runs per game (0.58). McMillan was drafted fourth overall in the first round of the 2025 Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) Collegiate Draft on Saturday, May 3, to the Bandits.
Francik was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after throwing a no-hitter to defeat No. 15 Virginia Tech in the second game of the series against the Hokies. The freshman out of Rockledge, Florida, threw the first no-hitter against a ranked opponent in program history and the first no-hitter by an FSU true freshman since Lacy Waldrop in 2012. In her last three starts, Francik has pitched 19.0 scoreless innings, allowing just five hits while striking out 21 batters.
