Louisville’s Durr and Miami’s Gray honored

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville junior guard Asia Durr has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Miami freshman guard Mykea Gray earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office and voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel.

Durr set a Louisville program record with 47 points in the ninth-ranked Cardinals’ 95-90 overtime win at No. 5 Ohio State. The 47 points are also the third highest total by an individual in a single game in ACC history. The Douglasville, Georgia, native scored 13 of the team’s 15 points in overtime and tied the school record for 3-pointers in a game with nine. Overall, she shot 16-29 from the floor, 9-15 from deep and 6-6 from the line, while recording six rebounds and two assists. With 3-pointers in the first two games, she has extended her streak to 41 consecutive games with a 3-pointer, which ranks second in the country.

Gray led all scorers in a pair of Miami wins to open the 2017-18 season, pouring in 27 points in her collegiate debut against FIU and 21 points against Vermont. She is the first Hurricane to score 20-or-more points in back-to-back home games since November, 2014. The Upper Marlboro, Maryland, native shot 48.5 percent from floor, including 43.4 percent from beyond the arc. She also added five assists and four steals over the weekend.
