2025 NCAA Tournament Bracket
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Seven Atlantic Coast Conference teams were selected to the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship, as the 29-team field was announced Sunday evening by the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Committee. The ACC’s total of seven bids matches a conference record, set in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
The ACC picked up three of the tournament’s eight seeds, and the conference’s seven NCAA selections are the most of any league.
The nation’s only remaining unbeaten team this season, ACC champion North Carolina (18-0) claimed the tournament’s No. 1 seed, while Boston College (17-2) earned the No. 2 seed and Virginia (11-6) took the No. 5 seed. In just its third season of existence, Clemson (13-6) earned its first NCAA Tournament bid. Duke (12-5), Stanford (14-5) and Syracuse (9-8) also earned berths in the tournament.
North Carolina starts tournament action at noon ET on Sunday in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, against the winner of the first-round contest between Clemson and Navy (15-5). The three-time national champions earned an NCAA bid for the 20th consecutive tournament and 26th time overall. Clemson plays Navy at 5 p.m. ET on Friday in its first-ever NCAA Tournament contest.
Boston College begins tournament play at noon ET on Sunday in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, against the winner of Loyola Maryland (13-6) and Stony Brook (16-4). This marks the Eagles’ 12th straight NCAA appearance and 13th in program history. Winners of two national championships and the reigning NCAA champion, BC has reached the NCAA championship game each of the past seven tournaments, the third-longest streak in NCAA women’s lacrosse history.
Virginia earned the No. 5 seed and plays host to LIU (12-6) at 3 p.m. ET on Friday in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Cavaliers extended their streak of consecutive NCAA tournament appearances to 29 and will make their 37th tournament appearance overall.
Stanford takes on Denver (14-5) at 7 p.m. ET on Friday in Gainesville, Florida. This is the Cardinal's 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, including their second straight and fourth in the last five years.
Syracuse plays Brown (10-9) at 4 p.m. ET on Friday in New Haven, Connecticut. The Orange are making their 13th straight NCAA tournament appearance and 22nd overall.
Duke faces James Madison (14-4) at 6 p.m. ET on Friday in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Blue Devils received their 23rd NCAA bid in program history.
Eight sites will host first- and second-round competition on Friday, May 9, and Sunday, May 11; four quarterfinal games will be played Thursday, May 15. First- and second-round games will air on ESPN+. The quarterfinals will be shown on ESPNU.
The winner of the four quarterfinal games will advance to the national semifinals at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The semifinal games will be shown on ESPNU at 3 and 5:30 p.m. ET on Friday, May 23. The championship game will air on ESPN on Sunday, May 25, at noon ET.
ACC teams have won 14 national titles, and at least one ACC team has played in the national title game in 14 of the last 15 seasons. The ACC has had at least one team in the national semifinals in 34 straight tournaments and 38 times overall. ACC teams have made 31 championship game appearances and 57 national semifinal appearances.
