CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Ten Atlantic Coast Conference women's tennis teams earned bids into the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship, the NCAA announced on Monday, April 28.
The 10 teams are the most from the ACC since sending 10 teams in 2018 and 2019. It is also one shy of the league record of 11 teams in 2016.
Four teams in North Carolina (No. 5), Virginia (No. 7), Duke (No. 8) and NC State (No. 12) earned a top-16 seed and will host in the first round of the NCAA Championship on May 2-4.
- No. 5 seed North Carolina (23-4) – 2025 ACC Champion; 26th overall and straight appearance in the NCAA Championship
- No. 7 seed Virginia (20-5) – 24th appearance overall and seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship
- No. 8 seed Duke (21-3) – 2025 ACC Regular Season Champion; 36th overall appearance and 35th straight trip to the NCAA Championship
- No. 12 seed NC State (17-6) – 15th appearance overall and ninth straight trip to the NCAA Championship
- California (13-8) – 42nd appearance overall and sixth straight trip to the NCAA Championship
- Clemson (14-11) – 27th overall appearance and first trip to the NCAA Championship since 2018
- Georgia Tech (13-11) – 25th overall and straight appearance in the NCAA Championship
- Notre Dame (20-5) – 27th appearance overall and the third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship
- Stanford (15-8) – 43rd overall and straight appearance, having made the NCAA Championship every year since it began in 1982
- Wake Forest (15-13) – 24th overall appearance and ninth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship
North Carolina was the last ACC team to win the NCAA team title, accomplishing that feat in 2023 with a 4-1 win over NC State in the championship match.
Duke (2009) and Georgia Tech (2007) have each won one NCAA Championship, while first-year ACC member Stanford has won 20 titles, with the most recent coming in 2019.
First and second rounds of play are slated for May 2-5, followed by super regionals on May 9-11. The final rounds will be played from May 16-18 at Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
As part of a two-year pilot program, the women’s singles and doubles championships were conducted in the fall of 2024, while the team championships will take place in the spring of 2025.
