CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Atlantic Coast Conference teams continue to demonstrate strong academic performance, as reflected in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) data released Tuesday by the NCAA.
"Today’s APR report once again highlights the outstanding achievements of our student-athletes, both in the classroom and in competition," said ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Ph.D. "We are proud of the continued excellence across our programs and deeply appreciate the dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, and administrators who remain committed to academic and athletic success."
ACC highlights include:
- Overall, the ACC average APR is 991, seven points above the Division I national average.
- Every team among the ACC’s 28 sponsored sports exceeded the NCAA’s required APR of 930.
- 114 ACC teams recorded a perfect score of 1000, including at least one team from each of the 18 member institutions. Notre Dame led the way with 17 teams with a perfect score, followed by Duke with 16 teams.
- All ACC football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and baseball programs exceeded the NCAA’s required APR of 930.
ACC Football:
- 15 programs are at or above the FBS average of 969 (most among peer conferences).
- ACC’s overall APR of 981 is 12 points above the FBS average.
- ACC is ranked No. 1 in Football APR among all FBS conferences.
ACC Men’s Basketball:
- 17 programs are at or above the NCAA average of 968 (most among peer conferences).
- ACC’s overall APR of 982 is 14 points above the Division I average.
ACC Women’s Basketball:
- 15 programs are above the NCAA average of 982 (most among peer conferences).
- ACC’s overall APR of 990 is eight points above the Division I average.
ACC Baseball:
- 12 programs are at or above the NCAA average of 979 (tied for the second-most among peer conferences).
- ACC’s APR of 987 is eight points above the Division I average.
APR is based on the 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years.
Each Division I institution is responsible for the academic progress of its student-athletes through the APR. The APR is a team-based metric that considers the eligibility and retention of each scholarship student-athlete each term.
The Division I Committee on Academics has developed and implemented policies and initiatives to improve academic support services on campuses. Additionally, the national office is actively involved in working with schools to enhance their academic programs to help student-athletes successfully earn their degrees.
