Notre Dame’s Tinney, Clemson’s Titsworth Garner ACC Baseball Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame sophomore catcher Carson Tinney was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Clemson sophomore right-handed pitcher Drew Titsworth was tabbed the ACC Pitcher of the Week for games played April 14-20.
 
Tinney hit .750 (9-for-12) throughout Notre Dame’s sweep of Stanford with nine hits, two doubles, four home runs, seven RBIs and 10 runs scored. The sophomore posted an .800 on-base percentage with a 1.917 slugging percentage and was a perfect 4-for-4 on runners caught stealing. The Notre Dame backstop went 5-for-5 in the series finale with a double, a home run, an RBI and four runs scored as the Irish finished off the road sweep. It marked new career-highs for Tinney in hits and runs scored in a game. Additionally, he is the first Irish hitter since 2011 to go 5-for-5 in a game. For the week, the Castle Pine, Colorado, native hit .667 (10-for-15) with 10 hits, 11 runs, two doubles, five home runs, five walks and nine RBIs. He also posted a 1.800 slugging percentage and a .750 on-base percentage as the Irish went 4-0.
 
Tinney is the first Notre Dame student-athlete to earn an ACC Baseball weekly honor since 2022 and the first to earn Player of the Week recognition since Niko Kavadas in 2018.
 
In his first career start, Titsworth pitched 6.0 scoreless innings of three-hit ball to earn the victory in No. 3Clemson's 2-1 victory over No. 17 Louisville on Friday. Against a Louisville team that entered the series hitting .327 and averaging 9.1 runs per game, the sophomore right-hander did not allow a runner past second base during his outing and faced just three batters over the minimum. The Frankenmuth, Michigan, product also recorded three strikeouts without issuing a walk on his way to establishing a career high for innings pitched. On the season, Titsworth is 4-0 with two saves, a 2.86 ERA, .214 opponents' batting average against and 32 strikeouts against seven walks in 28.1 innings pitched over 14 appearances.
 
Titsworth becomes the third Tiger to be named ACC Pitcher of the Week this season, joining Ethan Darden (March 3) and Aidan Knaak (March 17).
