GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson junior Caden Grice and Georgia Tech junior Jake DeLeo have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Co-Baseball Players of the Week, while Wake Forest junior Rhett Lowder has been recognized as ACC Pitcher of the Week.
 
ACC baseball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel and announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.
 
Grice stood out as a two-way player for the Tigers with four homers, 11 RBI, five runs scored and three walks in five games at the plate. The Greer, South Carolina, native’s best game came in Clemson's 14-5 win versus Georgia Tech on Sunday in his first career road start on the mound. Against the high-powered Yellow Jacket offense, he tied his career high with 5.0 innings pitched, allowing just three hits (all singles) and one run with six strikeouts to earn the win. In the same game, he went 2-for-4 at the plate with two homers, five RBIs, three runs and a walk.


 
DeLeo helped lead Georgia Tech to a series win over Clemson, hitting .500 on the weekend with six hits, three doubles and two home runs for three RBI. He slugged 1.250 with a .600 on-base percentage versus the Tigers and struck out just once on the weekend while drawing three walks. For the week, the Norwalk, Connecticut, outfielder hit .444 with three home runs and seven total extra-base hits.
 
Wake Forest’s Lowder helped key a sweep versus nationally ranked Miami, scattering three hits over seven innings in the Demon Deacons’ 11-0 win in Friday night’s opener. The Albemarle, North Carolina, righthander allowed only two runners to reach third and left four total stranded on base. Lowder allowed just one extra-base hit and fanned nine Miami hitters. The outcome marked the first time Miami has been shut out since a 5-0 loss to Notre Dame on May 20 of last season. The Hurricanes entered Friday’s game ranked fifth in the nation in home runs and 33rd in runs scored.
