ACC Announces Indoor Track & Field Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Two student-athletes who rank No. 1 nationally in their respective events and three more who rank among the top three have been recognized as Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Performers of the Week for Jan. 18.
 
ACC MEN’S TRACK PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Don’drea Swint, Florida State, Sr., Delray Beach, Fla.
Swint’s time of 6.53 in the 60 meters led the 26-runner field at the Clemson Invite and ranks third nationally. It marked a personal best for the Delray Beach, Florida, senior and stands as the third-best mark in Florida State school history.
 
ACC WOMEN’S TRACK CO-PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Edidiong Odiong, Florida State, Sr., West Riffa, Bahrain
Odiong’s winning time of 23.34 led the 40-runner field at the Clemson Invite and currently stands as the No. 2 time in the nation and the No. 4 time in Florida State history. Also ran a leg on the 4x400 relay team that currently stands fourth in the ACC (3:43.22).
 
ACC WOMEN’S TRACK CO-PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Hoffman, Duke, Gr., Haymarket, Va.
Hoffman took first place in the 500-meter run at the Virginia Tech Invitational with a nation-leading time of 1:11.97, which also stands as a PR and ranks second in Duke history. Also ran a leg on the Blue Devils’ winning 4x400 relay team (3:43.21) and placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.61.
 
ACC MEN’S FIELD PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Owayne Owens, Virginia, Sr., Montego Bay, Jamaica
Owens ranks No. 1 nationally on the triple jump following his mark of 16.23 meters (53’3”) at the Virginia Tech Invitational. Owens was the top collegian among a field of 14 competitors.
 
ACC WOMEN’S FIELD PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Rebecca Mammel, Virginia Tech, Gr., Tecumseh, Mich.
In her first meet with Virginia Tech, Rebecca Mammel showed why she is one of the most exciting weight throwers in the nation. All five of Mammel’s legal throws passed 20 meters, and her sixth-round effort went 22.15m (72’ 8”), good for the event win. Mammel’s throw ranks as the second-furthest in the NCAA this year, first in the ACC, and was only 0.18m off Virginia Tech’s 17-year school record.
